GyalCircuit Cassette Single

Boomarm Nation is proud to present SEEKERSINTERNATIONAL's GyalCircuit,
the lead single to the forthcoming full length LP, “HER.IMPERIAL.MAJESTY",
due out worldwide June 16, 2015.

We set things off in fine style with the minimalist bubblers meditation of the title track, GyalCircuit. Cosmic, hypnotic and ready to smash up the dance, SKRS creates a swirling framework built from analog synths firmly grounding a weightless looped deejay toast, exposing the embers of SKRS unique brand of sound system music.

The B side finds Boomarm Label boss GULLS in dub conference along side SKRS, together creating a burned out overdriven VERSION. Replacing the stark, implied spaces of the original with a pummeling 4x4 kick drum and looping sub bass, piled high amidst classic SKRS "bruk" vocal chops and cosmic throws to towers of tape delay and spring reverb.

This is SKRS and Boomarm Nation’s ode to all the Universal Gyal them. Get with this!

SKRSxMX7xMYSTERYFORMS presents theShopApprentice

     The long-standing relationship between SKRSINTL and the Internal Circuitry Studies (ICS) faculty bears fruit once again!  This time: a triplex collaboration between SKRS, AgentMX7 and MYSTERYFORMS taking the form of a limited edition poster+tape+digital super combination punch, entitled...

theShopApprentice

     In celebration of the seeker in us all - working through inertia and circumstance, fatigue and doubt, poor weather and low signal strength, in efforts to raise our antenna and tune in to His Master's Voice.  Taking a page from one such soul apprentice's private journal entry, together we sing:

A hurried sip of dark tea and I'm out!
Pedalling off into my small shop corner of the galaxy,
Multiple sunsets away, another work day awaits.

In the charged dim light, the Master's song
Intertwines with soldering fumes;
and after a friendly exchange,
The repair work begins:

Re-routing faulty signal paths;
Deoxidizing rusted contacts; Purging failed components -
Anything that gets in the way of pure Electricity

I've yet to develop a steady hand at this tho;
I still tremble at Your mere presence.
How do I make the leap across open circuits?

     Available now on the always vital ICS Library Records imprint, each limited edition combo pack you purchase includes a signed and numbered two-colour Risograph poster by MYSTERYFORMS and an exclusive 6-track EP on cassette and digital by SKRSxMX7.  All proceeds go to the ICS Arts, Crafts and Livelihood Program for Cultivated Living, an essential ICS initiative to help put food on artists' tables, cover portions of their sometimes impressive electricity bills, while continuing to make their works accessible and available to you and the community.  Thank you for your support.

     Original illustration and poster design by MYSTERYFORMS.  Edition of 70.  Two-colour, three-pass Risograph print on 11in x 15in, off-white, 80 lb. drawing paper.  Lovingly printed by Erica at Moniker Press.   The inherent limitations/beauty of Risograph printing causes each edition to align and register colours slightly different from one another (see photo above);  each edition resulting as a unique print - no two posters are ever identical!  Signed and numbered by the mystery man himself.

     Straight head-to-head circuitry clash by SKRSxMX7 on tape.  Recorded directly in-campus at ICS' Drumalie Ave Television and Radio Research and Repair Lab.  Six tracks deep, each tape side is essentially a nine-minute suite in three movements.  Professionally duplicated in Eastern Canada on high-bias TDK SA cobalt cassette tape (better than Chrome!).  Cover photography & design by MYSTERYFORMS.

SKRS Reconsiders the Vampire's Curse

"Court not the romance of darkness - for demons need love too -
Lest the consequences persist long after the bite is delivered
And a cataleptic slumber fall pon u!"
                                                                           - Baba Raaas

When She and the night conspire to conceal the Light
And the moon consents to cast Her haunting allure
The depths arise and stake their claim; a gnawing hunger for infliction

A sinister joy in the air rattles shutters with accursed laughter
Suffocating plumes of panic and confusion dance in wild frenzy
"Murder Soundbwaay!" never before sounding so fatal

     Inna dis ya soul clash - the classic battle for soul domination - SKRS performs their own brand of dub exorcism on all dark hearts.  In their medicine bag they arm themselves with THE quintessential Scientist codex, a golden chalwah, a ten foot stalk of herb and some holy water.  May Jah have mercy on us all and rid our hearts of all evil curse dem!  Out now on Boomarm Nation

ROOTPRINCIPLE on Bristol's NoCornerTapes!

...it's SKRS in a parallel roots tradition!

Machete pon left and a dagger pon the right
The seeker sets about on an inner pilgrimage
Hacking thru a dense tangle of circuit overgrowth and corrosion

The lush canopy, seen from above
Belies the dread and danger lying-smiling in wait within
Lions in sentinel; challenging those who profess their fidelity

Steel horn speakers call from towers on high while
Drum rumbling from a distance approach
Where time cuts to the chase, notions leave no trace...

UnityInnaDancehall 199X

Offered to do a program for CFRO 100.5 FM Co-op Radio's
Art of Beatz show, SKRSINTL immediately seizes the opportunity to share
one of their most revered -and often referenced- recordings in their collection

Acquired at a high school dance in San Juan, Metro Manila in 1993,
this curious, un-labelled cassette quietly stood out from the stack of underground
mixtapes being sold by Social Distortion Mobile, the deejays of that affair

"We have since then christened this
theretofore un-named tape:
UnityInnaDancehall 199X"

"This live recording was really what turned us on to Dancehall and
Sound System culture for the first time;  we couldn't have imagined a tougher,
more impactful introduction to the art form than this!"  -  SKRS

{editor's note: ethnomusicologists and amateur sound archeologists remain baffled by the above claims as the recording in question seems to traverse chronologies and defy all rationale behind its alleged origins.  We are not entirely sure if what we are hearing is an actual live recording of a dancehall  from another dimension or a completely composed audio piece.  Debates regarding this tape continue, but experts already agree: in this heartical tribute to the finest in Dancehall culture, SKRSINTL lovingly obliterates our all too restrictive definitions of what a radio broadcast, a live recording, a deejay mix, a soundtrack, and a compositional piece can or cannot be.  A unification ting seen!}
